Aziz Ansari Becomes First Asian-American To Win Golden Globe For Best Actor In TV Show

  •  Aziz Ansari, the US-born son of immigrants from Chennai, became the first Indian-American and first Asian to win a Golden Globe for best actor on a night the awards ceremony was steeped in unspoken politics, with minorities and colored people holding center-stage.
  • Aziz Ansari, who is no less political, won the award for comedy series 'Master of None' in which he plays the role of 30-year-old actor Dev Shah.

AR Rahman becomes the official brand ambassador of Sikkim 
  • Music maestro AR Rahman was named the official brand ambassador of Sikkim at a function here today. 
  • Extending a warm welcome to Rahman at the opening ceremony of the Sikkim Red Panda Winter Carnival, Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling said he was grateful to the musician for accepting his proposal. 
TN state enhances subsidy for two-wheeler scheme
  • The ruling AIADMK had, in its manifesto during the previous general election, announced that it would provide 50% subsidy for women to purchase two-wheelers. However, the scheme was not implemented during former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s tenure. Subsequent to her death, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami took steps to revive the scheme.
  • During his address in the House on Monday, Governor Banwarilal Purohit said: “The ‘two-wheeler scheme for women’ will be launched shortly, for which the government has decided to enhance the subsidy to Rs. 25,000, as against the Rs. 20,000 announced earlier.”
Wriddhiman Saha breaks MS Dhoni's record of most dismissals by an Indian wicketkeeper in a Test
  • With the catch of South Africa's Morne Morkel off Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the second innings of the first Test at Cape Town, Wriddhiman Saha broke the record of the most dismissals in a Test by an Indian wicketkeeper. 
  • It was Saha's 10th catch of the contest as he went past the record of nine dismissals set by former captain MS Dhoni against Australia in Melbourne in December 2014.
  • Overall, Saha's effort is the joint-second best in the Test history. He joins England's Bob Taylor (vs India, Mumbai 1980) and Australian Adam Gilchrist (vs New Zealand, Hamilton 2000) who each took 10 catches. 
Israeli company create tiniest cherry tomato
  • The “drop tomato” is about the size of a blueberry and the Kedma company in the country’s southern Arava desert says it is the smallest one ever cultivated in Israel, perhaps even in the world. 
  • It’s a point of pride in a country known for its agricultural innovation, where fruits and vegetables are taken seriously and where several strands of the cherry tomato were first invented.
